All of the Top Gear team have books out now, which means it is going to be a very expensive Autumn. I've just got Richard Hammond's "Car Confidential", which I got from Amazon Uk (because that useless Canadian version said it would take 3-5 weeks, which is ridiculous. It only took 6 days to get here from England, and cost the same) and James May's wine book is on order. Top Gear and wine, two of my favorite things, so I definately can't wait for it. We'll never get the tv show, so I just have to hope I can find a torrent. That just leaves Jeremy Clarkson's new book, which I will probably get at the end of the month, so I will have something to read over the Christmas break. And how nice is it going to be to have a whole week off at Christmas, for the first time since college! |

Have been spending yet more of my salary on dvd's. It's at the point where I'm running out of room to put the damn things. This little trip to HMV and Sunrise Records has provided: - The Line of Beauty, which still hasn't made it to Canadian tv, although it is supposed to be on BBC Canada sometime later this fall. Still, this way I get to see it without a quarter of it cut for commercials. I read the novel when it came out, and am now trying to find the time to watch it. - My Family and Other Animals, which I saw a few months back on PBS, and thought was great fun. I've seen Matthew Good in a few other movies lately, and really liked him. - and I picked up three previously viewed movies at Blockbuster: Transamerica, The Producers (which has a tiny appearance by John Barrowman), and Stay ( with Ewan McGregor), all of which I saw when they were released. |

Have been having another dvd binge, with some birthday gift cards. My collection is getting out of hand; have added: - Inspector Lewis, which I have been waiting ages to see in region 1 ( I've always rather fancied Kevin Whately and love the idea of him carrying on the Inspector Morse story) - Tristram Shandy which I saw in the cinema, and thought was hilarious - A Good Woman, which I also saw in the cinema, and rather liked, although the fact that Scarlett Johannson played the neglected wife, and Helen Hunt the femme fatale, was a bit hard to believe - Gideon's Daughter, with the terrific Bill Nighy - and Nanny McPhee, which was a blind buy, but I should like it, given the cast. |
